Say CHEEEssssEEEE...

Today was the day I was holding my breath for. I was so nervous as I was scheduled for our first prenatal screening test - the Nuchal Translucency (NT) screening ultrasound. The NT test uses ultrasound to measure the clear (translucent) space in the tissue at the back of the developing babies' neck. Although this test doesn't give us a definitive diagnosis its purpose is to help assess certain risks that are associated with potential problems such as heart abnormalities, Down Syndrome or Trisomy 18. The bloodwork screening was simple and painless! A simple pinprick on my finger and I didn't even need a band-aid..

We'll find out the results of the screening in about 2 weeks but we're going to stay positive and hope for the best. The joy of being able to carry this precious cargo is the only thing I can focus on. We were fortunate enough to hear the babies' heartbeats - both beating strongly at 167 beats per minute!

And the best part of today's appointment - pictures!

Baby A currently resides in the top bunk and Baby B in the bottom bunk.

I'm thinking Baby A MIGHT be a girl - only because this one was ready for her picture to be taken!

This is Baby B "waving" after making us wait a good 20 minutes to get a picture..

The tech marked the pictures with their approximate gestational age but I am officially 11 weeks and 6 days today!

28 weeks and 1 more day to go!!
